Colours for living by Claudia Castelli
“Colour is decisive in defining the emotion of a place. For me it is the element that most of all makes the person living in the space I design around them feel good and truly at home”
Interior and theatre set designer, architect Claudia Castelli is also a colour researcher. With Claudia, co-founder of HD Architetti, we talked about how colours are crucial in giving character to a home and to different environments. She personally loves all shades of green, the colour of calm and relaxation, and her first step in focusing on a project is to understand which palette the client identifies with.
Her trend research reveals today’s preference for neutral tones. A space played on light, natural shades opens up a multitude of possibilities for contrasts with fabrics and cushions, to brighten up interiors with more vibrant colour accents.
The approach to the kitchen, the quintessential non-colour space, is different. Here the atmosphere is created by combinations of materials and finishes–matte or glossy woods and lacquers, together with stone for the worktops.
In this harmony of materials and colours, Mo.1950 is a precious collaborator, who shares with ductility Claudia’s attention to the customer. Because beauty and dreams are the centre of the scene, in the home as in the theatre.
