On the occasion of Fuorisalone 2025, The Material Connection comes to life at Mo1950, Via Carducci 38 — an installation curated by lualdimeraldi in collaboration with Frag, Olivieri, and Carpet Edition. The project explores uncharted territory, where design meets artificial intelligence in a dialogue that weaves material, memory, and innovation together.

The relationship between designer and AI is at the heart of the installation: a system trained to analyze texts and image samples drawn from the archives of the three partner brands. Given a single input — to generate a human figure as a sensitive and creative response to a visual and conceptual prompt — designers are confronted with an outcome that is not always fully controllable. The result is a kind of “conversation” that goes beyond technical execution, producing a sophisticated interpretation where data merges with emotional tones. The archive and material libraries are transformed into a visual narrative with human features. The tactile and visual sensations evoked by the material surfaces of the three brands are amplified in a new kind of relationship — an empathetic connection that emerges spontaneously through the presence of the human figure, through the gaze, the instinct to look closer.
